Lets Talk: Overthinking

You ever find yourself continuously thinking about one small situation? You think about it so much you start to get frustrated? That, is overthinking. Overthinking can cause tension in all types of relationships, mental fatigue, and unwanted stress.

I used to overthink a lot, usually the small things. I worried that my personality was too much and that was why I was invited to hang out with a group of friends. I worried about something someone said and I would over-analyze what they meant by that, in reality I was reading too much into it and it caused problems. I realized the reason I would overthink a lot of things was due to depression. Overthinking can be a byproduct of depression and anxiety.

How to stop overthinking:

  1. Recognize your emotions you have. Do not try to suppress them and allow them to build up, acknowledge how you feel - talk to someone about it, write about it, or even draw.

  2. Let go of your past. Your past does NOT define who you are.

  3. Live for the now. Don't think so much about "what if this happens" just do it. Let yourself go, let your mind wander, and go on new adventures.

No matter what you go through, remember you are not alone. You are loved. You are valued.
